Lanigan is a town in south-central Saskatchewan, where Trans-Canada Yellowhead Highway 16 meets Highway 20. It sits about 117 kilometres east of Saskatoon and 170 kilometres north of Regina, surrounded by the RM of Usborne No. 310.
At the heart of town is the Lanigan Recreation Complex, with a skating rink, hall and meeting rooms, and it is home to the Lanigan Pirates of the Long Lake Hockey League. The town also has a nine-hole grass golf course, an outdoor heated swimming pool, a four-sheet curling rink, ball diamonds, tennis courts and camping.
Hockey has shaped Lanigan's claim to fame. Bobby Baun, who scored an overtime winner for Toronto in a 1964 playoff game on a fractured ankle, comes from here, as do NHL players Sheldon Brookbank, Wade Brookbank and Brian Propp.
